Exercise (1) - Arabic letters

 

  • Read these letters:

* Read the following words:

أنا  = Ana I 

اسم =  Asm = Name 

_ أنا يوسف 

_ أنا اسمي يوسف 

باب = Bab door 

أبي = Abi My father

أخي =  Akhi My brother  

أمي  = omi My mother 

مِصر = Egypt Masr

أمريكا = Amerika Usa 


  • Read these two sentence: 


1- صباح الخير، أنا اسمي أحمد، أنا من مصر.


2- أنا سامي، أنا من أمريكا.

صباح الخير  = Good Morning

مساء الخير = Good Evening 




(أ) (ا) (إ)

Alif""

The name of the first letter of the Arabic alphabet is alif


(ء)

(Arabic: همزة hamzah) 




(ح) (حـ) Haa”  

This letter represents a sound that is pronounced deep in . the throat. It has no equivalent in English



(ل) (لـ) Lam

pay attention to the position of your tongue when you say blue.



(خ)  (خـ) 

khaa”


Some people use this sound to say yech!  To pronounce خ, say k and pay attention to where the back of your tongue hits the back of the roof of your mouth and blocks your windpipe



(ي) (يـ) 

yaa”

The long vowel  ي  also functions as a constant at the beginning of a word, or when preceded or followed by a vowel: it is pronounced like y in yes. Say eeeeeeee end go right into a and you will hear yourself say y.





(ر) 


raa”

This is the name of the Arabic r. It is a flap, like the Spanish or Italian r. You already know how to make this sound


(س - سـ ) مساء

Seen is the name of the Arabic letter corresponding to English s as in the word seen.


ص  Saad


ل Laam


In the Franco Arabic, young people use english letters and english number to write Arabic words which is not good in my opinion. But it's important to be familiar with that if you face something written like that

7 = ح

5 = خ

2 = أ

9 = ص
